1.8!
We're running 1.8 now. Let me know if you have any trouble. I am holding off introducing the new world until 1.9 though, since that is apparently coming soon. Fewer unused worlds that way :)

1.8 Really soon!
Looks like there's a recommended Bukkit build for 1.8.1. I'll see if I can get it up and running tonight.

1.8 Soon!
Looks like 1.8 hits this week. If all goes well, I'll bring us up to date and try to drop in an adventure map :D. Maybe swapping it for WorldTwo if nobody's made too much use of that yet...?

Uh... use /sethome in the new world
So... I'm having a permissions issue that prevents me from resetting the global spawn point in the new world. So, please use your /sethome in the new world so that you don't end up respawning in an underground lava hole or drowning in solid rock . Seriously... this is your warning. Setting the new /sethome won't overwrite the /sethome in the other world.
...Ok, if you don't read this and it kills you and you lose your stuff, lemme know and I'll restore it :(

Multiverse, but at a cost
Hey Folks,
As I'd mentioned to a few of you that I would, I got Multiverse going on our server. The good news is that that allows us a means to include new kinds of worlds in the future. When Notch ever gets around to deploying the Adventure Update or Skylands, we'll be able to create a world of that type and link it to ours.
In the meantime, we have a fresh normal world to explore right now. You might notice a new tall tree near Invader Station. Go to the fenced-off pool at its base and dive in. You'll be warped to the new area. Aside from a little spawn-shelter and a pool that offers the return trip, the world is totally untouched. It also has its own nether.

Speaking of nether, there is a bit of a price for all of this, and it's fairly steep. Multiverse broke and re-made the link between our normal world and the nether, meaning that our portals are a mess. I'm not actually sure how we should go about resolving it... it'll probably be a fairly big project. Personally, my ship portal goes out into dangerous nether-ground, while most other portals seem to link to stupid places. Colin's normal-world portal seems safe, though re-linked to one of my nether portals, as does the fire pyramid portal (re-linking to one of Gwil's).
So that we have at least some reliable way to access our nether-hub, I've dropped a teleporter into the top floor of Invader Station. Just walk onto the gold block, and it'll take you there. The return trip works the same way.

I'm sorry about the mess that it's made of the portals, but I really think that we'll be better in the long run, since we'll no longer be restricted to our original world as new content is released.
Finally, if you feel that the portal-scramble particularly screws you, I'm happy to provide you with materials to build a new space in the nether (if need be), or to just make you a teleporter like the one that I put in Invader Station (or both). Shoot me an email if you'd like one/both of these.
PS. I'm still trying to get the dynamic map working nicely. It should work for all the worlds now, but it seems to be a little bit squirrly when I try to change perspective.
PPS. Looks like the Adventure Update might be sooner than I thought. If it's a separate world and comes like, immediately, I'll swap it for the world I just added. Otherwise, we may have a couple of worlds to explore shortly :)
